Intel has purchased the InfiniBand networking assets from QLogic for $125 million. 'This acquisition is designed to enhance Intel's networking portfolio and provide scalable high-performance computing fabric technology,' the company said in a statement. Along with the networking technology business unit, Intel will also acquire a 'significant' number of InfiniBand employees. The company expects the acquisition to close by the end of the quarter. Intel is hoping to become a major component supplier to smartphones and tablets.
